Wearing fins this is the a great drill for EVERYONE to master. Brilliant to practice kicking, breathing, alignment, swimming straight, head position and more. we LOVE it!
How to do it: Extend bottom arm out so it is pointing where you are going. Aim to keep the extended arm long and straight and in line with back of the head. Arm wants to be pointing to end of pool as opposed to a corner of the lane. Let other arm relax on hip. Keep legs long, straight and loose, kicking from the hip.
Front arm needs to have fingers lower than wrist, wrist lower than elbow, elbow lower than shoulder aim to get hips high to the sky and arm out inline with the shoulder. Use the shoulder muscles to hold the arm still. Can think about carrying a tray of champagne on your chest to keep the chest open. If you slouch the champagne will spill and we will all be sad.
